Just trying to set the field of an 625 superconducting magnet power supply - the system is in persistent mode with the power supply field ramped to zero. I need to ramp it up again to 0.00043 mT, but the command "SETF +004.293E-04" is setting the field to 0.4293T. Is there an issue with the number of decimal places? What is the correct format for low field values?

According to our software engineer, the Model 625 firmware limits the exponent to +/-3 so you would need to enter it as 0.4293E-3. Please let me know if this does not resolve the issue

Sounds good - thank you! I'll give it a try next time I'm at low field and let you know. I started controlling the field with the current instead - but prior to doing that, I also tried "+0.0004E+00", "+0.0004", "0.0004" etc which still all set the field to 0.4T.

Actually, I have done additional research and most likely you have a firmware version that does not handle the exponent properly. Please send a *IDN? command to the Model 625 and see if the reported firmware version is version 1.3 or earlier. If it is, please send an email to service@lakeshore.com and provide your contact information and shipping address as we can send you a new Firmware EPROM that should eliminate the issue.
