Hi, I'm having difficulty accessing the lakeshore 321 temperature controller with labview from my computer. Currently I have connect the serial output from the back of the lakeshore to a model 2002 RJ-11 to DB-25 adapter, and then connected that to a serial to usb 2 adapter, which is plugged in to my computer. Currently I've written a test program which as far as I understand is supposed to configure the device, give it a setpoint, and then readout the status of the setpoint. I've attached a picture of the VI, as well as the error that I receive when I try to run it. Please tell me if there are some configurations I need to perform or if there are things I need to do in the VI before trying to read out a status. Attachments:

Lake Shore does not provide LabVIEW programming support, however, looking at the picture you provided, it does not look like you have included anything to initialize the communications port to the application.
I suggest you download and look at the example files for our Model 211 Monitor to see how to set up an Initalize.vi step that you would connect to your measurement application. The initialize vi selects the COM Port and RS232 parameters.
When you write the application, you should first initialize the COM port, then run your application as long as needed and when you are ready to close the application, you would process that with a close vi.

I have other question which concerns of connect with lakeshore 321 via serial port.
I wrote programme in the Visual Basic 6.0, as has been pointed in Manual. The RJ-11 cable and DE-9 serial interface connector configured as DTE in according to Manual. The programme works, but didn't Response on different Commands (In the field Response, after input Commands and pressed button Send in the field Response appears "No Response"). I did everything as in the manual . I don't understand , Why there is no connection with the device? How to fix it ?
And further, on the display Lakeshore 321 must be set Braud values : 300 or 1200. The Braud Values in the Programme on Visual Basic 6.0 in Manual is 9600. Why ?

I am unable to answer the question regarding why the example shows 9600 BAUD as the 321 only supports 300 and 1200 BAUD Speeds. The manual was created many years ago and the writer is no longer employed by Lake Shore. If you are sure you have everything correct, it is possible that the serial interface on the 321 is bad. Before making that determination, are you using a Windows Based Computer. If yes, please install our free Instrument communications utility application found at: www.lakeshore.com/resources/software/instrument-communication-utilityAfter setting the BAUD Rate and COM Port, if this application does not work, your Model 321has a defective serial interface and would need to be returned to the factory for a Non-warranty repair
