Hello, I am using a Lakeshore 330 Temperature Controller with a Lakeshore DT-470-SD-13 Silicon Diode. My desired application is for data logging of the silicon diode temperature vs. time. I am trying to connect to the Lakeshore with a usb to GPIB cable. How can I data log the temperature with the Lakeshore? Is there any Lakeshore software package or another software that I need? I would appreciate any advice.

Hi homesteadjoe.
The Lake Shore product expert that would have the best answer to your question is on holiday for Christmas and the New Year.
We will be back in the building in a couple days, on Tuesday January 2nd. I’ll be sure to have a proper response to your question early next week. Thanks!

Hello Homesteadjoe,
Lake Shore does not offer any software programs that allow you to capture the time and temperature data for sensors connected to the obsolete Model 330 temperature Controller.
Chapter 4 of the Model 330 User Manual describes the RS232 and IEEE488 Interfaces and provides a list of commands that can be used with the instrument. If you are familiar with programming, you can use any programming language that allows you to send the ASCII commands to the interface and then read the response. If you have any specific questions regarding the commands available in the Model 330, please let me know.

Hi Lake Shore Jeff M,
Thank you for your kind reply. Unfortunately, I am not an experienced programmer but I will read into this. Do you know if anyone has been able to successfully data log in real time? Any further recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Yes, over the years customers have written their applications in everything from Quick Basic to C++ programming languages. However, since writing your own application may require the purchase of additional programming software and possible consulting fees, you may be better off looking at upgrading your Model 330 to one of our current models like the Model 335, which will allow you use our free Chart Recorder application to record the time versus temperature of the inputs in real time.
Regards, Jeff
