Hello, how much temperature difference will the top and bottom plate see for Cernox (CX-1070-SD-HT-4L)? If they are similar, can I use the top plate to sense temperature? I'm trying to sense the temperature of probe tip when it's cooled to minimum temperature. One way is to isolate the Cernox bottom plate from any cold head, and land the probe on the top plate. Is this doable? Thanks.

Hello!
It is not recommended to mount or use the top of the Cernox SD package for mounting. There would definitely be a temperature gradient between the two, especially below 10K. This would also apply to landing the probe on top or even the bottom. Probes are typically thin and you simply wouldn't get a good thermal contact to measure the probe temperature.
Furthermore, let me ask: Do you have our probe station by any chance? If you do, we can possibly help you with probe temperatures because we've characterized them.
Best Regards, Ogi K.
