Hi folks,
I'm having intermittent "open heater" errors on my Lakeshore 336. They used to occur every week or so, but are now occurring every hour or so. I noticed that firmware 2.7 included a fix for "reporting of false heater open errors" (I'm running version 2.9), and wondered what the algorithm is for detecting an open heater? As far as I can tell, the heater itself is OK.
Regards, Michael

Hello Michael,
Sorry to hear that you're having this issue. The firmware would fix this problem in case it happens randomly rather than repeated. Your case doesn't appear to be this.
Here are a few things I would suggest trying: 1. Unplug the heater in the back of the instrument and measure the resistance across the banana plug of the heater wire. 2. Does the heater stop working (and you get this error) at a certain temperature? If yes, it could be a failing heater or solder joint that becomes noticeable at a certain temperature(s) due to thermal expansion/contraction. 3. Try other heater ranges and see if they are failing as well
I suggest emailing us the results you find of the suggestions above to support@lakeshore.com so we can further troubleshoot if necessary.
Greetings, Ogi K.
