Hi. What is a best practice to connect a RTD to the temp monitor 218? Specifically I have model XPT-111-45. I presume there will be some type of connector between the monitor's input and the RTD but the wire/gauge can be mismatched. Since the RTD gauge is really small, is crimping best in say a D-sub connector?

Hello Jeff,
The Model 218 has two input connector plugs in the back that mate with a DB-25 connector that you will have to purchase if you don't have an extra one. Please refer to the user manual section 3.3.2.1 for the pin-out as you will need it when terminating the wires.
As this is a platinum sensor, a 4-lead connection should be used all the way from the sensor to the Model 218. We have cryogenic 4-lead and 4-lead-twisted pairs that both will work great. Lastly, we recommend soldering the wires to the connector to ensure a good and reliable termination.
Greetings, Ogi K.
