Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well. I’m working on a project that involves using magnetic materials in high-temperature environments. Specifically, I need a material that maintains its magnetic properties even at temperatures above 200°C.

Could anyone recommend a type of magnetic material that performs well under these conditions? Additionally, if you have any tips on where to source such materials or any experiences to share, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Hi Remi,
If you are referring to permanent magnets, the AlNiCo and SmCo are able to withstand high temperatures without losing their magnetic properties.
Other than this, 200C is not a very high temperature and most ferromagnetic materials, are still magnetic at that temperature. For this kind of materials, the temperature at which the magnetic properties are lost is called Curie temperature (Tc) and is typically 100s of deg C. If you know what materials are available for you, you could search for their Tc and try to pick one with the Tc about 100C more than your operating temperature.
