Hi,
We plan to set up an automatic deguassing system by using 480 Fluxmeter. We would like to know what option of coil to enable the operation.
Basically the units with magnets inside need to be degaussing to the similar value as the golden unit.
During the current operation, we fully charge the unit (with magnet inside) to max strength of the magnet filed. After that we deguass the unit to the certain field strength, while we measure the unit with Network Analyzer for the electronic performance.
We now want to automate our operation, 1) we make a golden unit by degaussing, then we measure the unit for the magnetic field strength and set it as a reference, 2) we degauss the production units to same magnetic field strength. 3) we currently use a magnetizer to degauss the unit. 4) we want to measure the magnetic field strength during the degaussing process. use GBIP interface of fluxmeter to read the data at the same time to send the signal to control the magnetizer. 5) Currently the degaussing coil is a flat box type, the unit must be put on the top of flat degaussing coil box during the operation. we need to find the probe/coil to measure the filed during the degaussing.
Your help is appreciated. Thanks
Jack

Dear Jack,
I'm looking into this with our magnetics applications engineer and will get back to you soon.
Thanks, Ogi K.

Dear Jack,
Can you first confirm that you're using a pulse-discharge magnetizer for this operation? It should be possible to do what you are asking about and the first thing to do is to make a custom coil such that it is sensitive enough to produce a measurement but at the same time doesn't overload the instrument's input (pulse X # of turns) upon discharge. Are you able to wind your own coil?
The Model 480 has an absolute limit of 100V to the input but we recommend staying at or below 60V. Once you have a coil that works properly to measure the pulse, automation via custom software can be achieved. You would need to write your own software that can communicate over GPIB. Besides using standard and common programming languages, LabVIEW would also be one of your options.
Thanks and Regards, Ogi K.
